4 Year Old Pre-school Curriculum

Circle Time:  Students say morning prayers and the Pledge of Allegiance.  They discuss the weather and learn the days of the week, the months of the year, counting and recognizing numbers as the calendar is discussed.

Religion:  Children listen to stories that relate to their lives and help them understand how

God is always there to help them.  Finger plays, songs, and art activities help children remember the concept of the lessons.

Language Arts:  Students enjoy a variety of fun and enriching activities.  Children practice tracing and writing letters and have frequent practice with writing their names.

Playtime:  Students are able to play with a variety of toys in the classroom.

Story-time:  Students enjoy a story read by the teacher.

Recess/Lunch:  Students are able to play outside on nice days, inside on inclement weather days.

Math:  Students use a variety of hands-on materials to help with counting skills and number, shape, and color recognition.

Group Game Time:  Students play games like “Farmer in the Dell” and “Simon Says” that help them develop their gross motor skills, learn rules of a game, and develop good sportsmanship.

 Art:  Students learn beginning art concepts with colors, shapes, and designs.

Music:  Students learn basic music concepts through singing, motions, and learning the words to songs

Gym:  Students learn coordination, how to follow directions, teamwork, and sportsmanship.

French:  Students learn basic French words through song, play, and practice

Table Time:  Students explore areas such as the Puzzle Table, Writing Table, Math Table, Alphabet Table and Art Table.  These tables contain a variety of games and activities that enhance the student learning.

 News/Wrap up of the Day:  Students share news about their lives and explain what they learned and liked the best about their day in Pre-school
