Faith Formation

The National Directory for Catechesis states that faith formation is "central to the Church's mission" and that without it the " ... initial faith aroused by the original proclamation of the Gospel would not mature; education in the faith through a deeper knowledge of the person and message of Jesus Christ would not transpire; and discipleship in Christ through genuine apostolic witness would not be fostered."

The faithful are called to ongoing formation throughout their lives.  The Holy Spirit calls the church to provide ongoing faith formation for her members. This means that the faith must be fostered and nurtured throughout our lives.

This ongoing faith formation for children is provided most effectively by faith-centered parents and a solid Catholic school education. As we all know, religion cannot be taught in public school. Unfortunately, many people in the media and entertainment industry do all they can to ridicule Jesus and the Christian faith.  Unless this is countered by a solid education in our Christian faith, many more people will abandon the faith and embrace a way of life contrary to the teaching of Jesus.

Jesus taught us that God is love and that the life of every human being is sacred. Without these basic beliefs, our culture will downplay the importance of genuine love and the sacredness of every human being. We are all called to reflect the light of Christ in our world. Unless we do so, the darkness of evil will prevail. We are fortunate to have a Catholic school that can help our children grow in the light of Christ and enable them to reflect that light to others.
